Documents you need

From our draft document list for this visa. Your own list depends on your situation, so check the official source.

Usually needed

  • Passport

Current and all earlier passports, each signed by you (unsigned Pakistani passports cannot get a visa), valid at least three months beyond the visa; plus copies of pages 1 and 2. If an earlier passport was lost, a police report with an English or German translation.

  • Visa application form (signed)

The Videx form, printed from the system with its barcode and signed. Also the lists of your children and of relatives living abroad (templates on the page), and the printout of your appointment email.

  • Passport-size photograph (destination specification)

Two biometric passport photos, not older than six months: one stapled to the form, one clipped.

  • Travel medical insurance (Schengen: at least EUR 30,000 cover)

Health insurance of at least EUR 30,000 covering every Schengen country, not only Germany: signed original and a copy. The page links insurers in Pakistan that meet the standard.

  • Return ticket reservation and accommodation booking

Hotel bookings with full addresses (or other accommodation) for the whole stay, a detailed itinerary, and confirmed return flight reservations.

  • Letter from your employer or university with permission for the trip (NOC)

Letter from your employer or university (business trips: a business reference letter from your company) with your position, how long you have been there, and permission for the trip; for business, also its purpose, length and who pays.

  • Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)

    Copy of your CNIC.

  • Family Registration Certificate (NADRA)

NADRA Family Registration Certificate in English; also your marriage certificate if married, or the birth certificate for a child.

  • Bank statement / proof of funds

Bank statements for the past six months. You may add pension books, investment certificates or property documents, with English translations; if you have no salary, these show your means.

Needed in some situations

  • Invitation letter from host or business

Family or friends: your host's formal letter of obligation (Verpflichtungserklärung) from the Foreigners Office, under 6 months old, or an informal invitation signed by your host with copies of their passport, residence permit and registration. Business or events: the invitation from the company or organisation in Germany, under 3 months old, on letterhead, with its commercial register extract and the signatory's authority and passport copy; trade fair exhibitors also the stall rental, invoice, payment and exhibitor pass, visitors their entrance tickets.

  • Salary slips

Salary slips for the last three months.

  • FBR income tax return / wealth statement

Business trips: your company's financial evidence: its bank statements for the last six months and the FBR acknowledgements of its tax returns for the last two fiscal years; other proof of good standing (for example recent bills of lading to Europe) helps.

  • Letter from the treating hospital or clinic abroad

For treatment not available in Pakistan: the documents listed on the German Missions' medical treatment page.

  • Polio vaccination certificate (NIMS/NADRA)

Pakistan exit requirement, not a visa document: when you leave Pakistan you must show a NIMS/NADRA vaccination certificate including polio (the old paper card is no longer accepted, and since 14 September 2026 airports check a NADRA-integrated vaccination record). Verify current rules.
