Usually needed
Passport
Valid for at least one more year, with two blank pages, issued within the last 10 years. Original and a copy of the data page.
Visa application form (signed)
National visa application form, every section completed and signed; a parent or guardian signs for a minor. Apply for a foreigner number (NIE) at the same time.
Passport-size photograph (destination specification)
One recent colour passport-size photo, light background, face fully visible.
Company certificate for remote work (start date and permission)
Certificate of the company: how long you have worked for it (at least three months) and its express permission to work remotely. Freelancers: the length (at least three months) and terms of the contract.
Business registration (SECP, chamber of commerce or similar)
Certificate of the commercial register (or equivalent) showing when the company was set up (at least a year ago) and what it does.
Proof of Spanish Social Security registration
Sworn statement on social security obligations, plus proof of Spanish Social Security registration (employees: the company's registration request and your enrolment; freelancers: RETA).
Salary slips
Proof of income of at least 200% of the minimum wage a month: contract, payslips or invoices, and bank statements showing the money is yours and lawful.
Health insurance certificate
Public or private health insurance from an insurer authorised to operate in Spain, covering everything the Spanish public system covers. Not needed if you show cover by Spanish Social Security.
Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
Proof that you live in the Embassy's district, for example your CNIC (original and a copy).
Needed in some situations
Degree certificate
Degree, postgraduate degree or vocational diploma (regulated professions: the Spanish recognition).
Employer reference or leave letter (NOC)
Without a degree: proof of at least three years' experience in work similar to the remote job.
Police character certificate
Police certificate from the countries you lived in during the last two years, plus a sworn statement that you have no criminal record in the last five years.
Polio vaccination certificate (NIMS/NADRA)
Pakistan exit requirement, not a visa document: when you leave Pakistan you must show a NIMS/NADRA vaccination certificate including polio (the old paper card is no longer accepted, and since 14 September 2026 airports check a NADRA-integrated vaccination record). Verify current rules.

You work remotely, using only computers and telecoms, for companies outside Spain (a freelancer may also work for Spanish clients, up to 20% of the work). You have worked for the employer or client for at least three months, and it has existed for at least a year. You hold a degree from a university, vocational school or business school of recognised prestige, or have three years' experience in similar work. Your income is at least 200% of Spain's minimum wage a month (about EUR 2,849 in 2026, verify), plus 75% of the minimum wage for the first family member and 25% for each other.

Employees: the company registers with Spanish Social Security and enrols you. Freelancers: register with the self-employed scheme (RETA). A certificate from your home country's social security replaces this only under a social security agreement with Spain; Pakistan has none (verify), so plan for Spanish registration.
