Spain researcher visa from Pakistan

A Spain researcher visa is for research, development and innovation at public or private bodies in Spain: researchers, scientific and technical staff, university and business school teachers, and doctoral students. The residence authorisation comes first, from the Large Companies and Strategic Groups Unit (UGE), normally at the request of your host, and your family can apply with you.

Documents you need

From our draft document list for this visa. Your own list depends on your situation, so check the official source.

Usually needed

  • Passport

Valid for at least one more year, with two blank pages, issued within the last 10 years. Original and a copy of the data page.

  • Visa application form (signed)

National visa application form, every section completed and signed; a parent or representative signs for a minor.

  • Passport-size photograph (destination specification)

One recent colour passport-size photo, light background, face fully visible.

  • Approved residence (or residence and work) authorisation from Spain

Original and a copy of the residence authorisation issued by the Large Companies and Strategic Groups Unit (UGE).

  • Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)

Proof that you live in the Embassy's district, for example your CNIC (original and a copy).

Needed in some situations

  • Police character certificate

Police certificate from the countries you lived in during the last two years (Pakistan: the National Police Bureau, Islamabad), issued within the last six months, apostilled and translated by a sworn translator, plus your sworn statement that you have no criminal record in the last five years.

  • Polio vaccination certificate (NIMS/NADRA)

Pakistan exit requirement, not a visa document: when you leave Pakistan you must show a NIMS/NADRA vaccination certificate including polio (the old paper card is no longer accepted, and since 14 September 2026 airports check a NADRA-integrated vaccination record). Verify current rules.
